Bradley defeats Sycamores in three sets
PEORIA, Illinois – The Indiana State volleyball team fell in straight sets to the Bradley Braves (15-25, 17-25, 17-25) on Friday night in the Missouri Valley Conference game inside the Renaissance Coliseum.
The Braves, who have now won five straight games, beat the Sycamores 0.226-0.077, while only trailing four times in the game.
The Sycamores were led to the net by Mallory keller. Keller finished the game with 10 kills on 37 swings, four digs and a pair of blocks. Storm Suhre knocked down five wins while four other Sycamores managed a trio of wins. Defensively for the Sycamores, Melina tedrow counted 15 excavations and Ashley Eck dug up 13 attacks from Bradley to go with a service ace.
Bradley led from start to finish in the first set of action and forced the Sycamores to call their first time out at 10-5. The Braves came out of the break and scored two of the next three points and led just under five points just once the rest of the course.
In the second set, Indiana State broke a tie 4 and scored six of the next eight points to take a 10-6 lead. Bradley responded, however, by scoring seven straight points to take a 13-10 lead. Indiana State ran out of gas as Bradley won the set by limiting the Sycamores to just four more points in the set.
Bradley came out energized in the third set, scoring the first four points of the set. The ISU recovered, however, scoring eight of the next 11 points to take their first lead of the set. Teams came and went until the Braves were able to extend their lead to four to 16-12 to force an ISU time-out. BU then extended their lead to eight points en route to the set and the match victory.
The Sycamores are back in action on Saturday November 6 when they travel to Normal to take on the Redbirds. The first service is set at 7 p.m.
