SOUTH BOSTON – The 2021 season was a record breaking season for South Boston Speedway Budweiser Hornets division champion Josh Dawson.

With eight wins in 10 starts this season, the Halifax, Va. Resident won his first career NASCAR Track Championship, ending the 2021 season with an 84-point lead over his cousin, Jared Dawson of Nathalie, Va. .

Dawson’s rise to the top of the Budweiser Hornets division at South Boston Speedway has been a constant ascent. He finished sixth in the division points race in 2018 and rose to third place in the final points standings in 2019, thanks to his first two career wins and 11 top-five finishes in a dozen times. departures. We spent about three months in the hospital where he spent the first two weeks on a ventilator in a medically induced coma. Then we moved to a rehabilitation center where we spent two years. He could start using a hand to raise his thumb and answer questions correctly. So we had that until the end – laughs, smiles, a little bit of one hand movement, and that was really it. But that was enough, because he was there. He lived here for almost eight years in the house. We had a nurse in our house 24/7 which is amazing and also awful. Imagine there is someone in your home who is not you or your family 24/7. There is always someone in your space. He was hospitalized for several months during the summer of 2019 and has not been the same since this hospitalization. He wasn’t as present as he used to be. He no longer had the fight. And it would have been cruel, I think, to let him go on like this because there was no going back this time. He passed away in October 2019. I think for my daughter it’s so different because that’s all she ever knew. She doesn’t remember having a father who was active or anything that could really participate with her. While for everyone, we just mourn a second time over the loss we had in 2009. I don’t think most people believe me when I say it, but it was him. Every photo of him as a child is in camouflage, climbing rooftops, climbing trees and playing in the woods. He was always going to go. And if he wasn’t and his guys were, he was going to find a way to go with them. So I always encouraged him and people would always ask me, “If you knew this was going to happen to him, would you do it anyway?” And I always say, ‘Yeah, I think I would, because otherwise it wouldn’t have been him.’ On the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, almost 20 years exactly after September 11: “It’s heartbreaking how it was all handled. But I’ve learned that you can’t dwell on the “what if?” I don’t feel like it was for nothing at all, but it shouldn’t have ended the way it did. And just to know how much has been poured in there – how many people, how many lives, how many families – it’s just hard. You know, it should have been a success, and it almost was. And then we didn’t end up the right way. And that’s all in one… that’s the reason Mark went to Iraq and the same reason he finally went to Afghanistan, so if it hadn’t happened, none of this would have happened. . South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-keun visited Dhaka University on Wednesday and handed over 100 books and multimedia materials on Korea and Korean language learning at the University.

DU Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman and Library Director Mr. Nasir Uddin Munsi were present.

The two sides agreed to further promote the collaborative activities between the Embassy and the University on the basis of the various successful cooperation programs that they have put in place over the past decades.

Congratulating the centenary of Dhaka University, Ambassador Lee also offered to work closely to strengthen Korea-Bangladesh ties, especially towards the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2023.

The Korea Corner was established at the University’s Central Library in July 2013 to promote academic interest in Korea and Korea-Bangladesh relations among University students, faculty members and the general public.

Over 1,000 books and audiovisual materials in Korean or English have been donated to the library so far.

While the university will reopen next week after a long period of closure due to the corona pandemic, the Korea Center expects to attract students again.

New books added to the library include Korean Literature Across the Korean Wave, Korea’s First Classical Literature Collection, Korean Literature Global Perspectives, A Concise History of Modern Korea, Korea: A Very Short Introduction.

Dhaka University also established a Korean Language Center as part of its Modern Language Institute (IML) in 1997 offering Korean language courses.

About 150 students are enrolled in the Korean course each academic year. As K-pop, Kdrama, K-movie and K-food become popular in Bangladesh, many young people and students are showing increasing interest in learning the Korean language.

KOTA BHARU (September 4): The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) will hold an engagement session with telecommunications service providers to ensure that facilities available to Malaysians are up to the fees charged.

Its minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, said he had taken note of the costs Malaysians have to bear to cover monthly bills that are still relatively high compared to monthly salaries.

“One of the industries that are holding up in terms of profits, including during the pandemic, is the telecommunications industry.

“Similar to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) principle, if you collect more you should distribute and try to give back more to people, so based on the same spirit, I hope to get cooperation when I lead the session. engagement, so that existing infrastructure can allow for better connectivity not only in terms of availability, but also quality and speed that justify the costs, ”he said.
