Go beyond the big cities into smaller towns and rural areas, and you’ll see a distinct difference in what the consumer is looking for in mobile phones. People here want practical and functional devices that are sturdy and affordable with decent battery life, specs and cameras. We choose two of these handsets that offer a good balance between price and performance.

Infinix Note 12 Pro
The Note 12 Pro is a capable mid-range phone (a gaming-specific device to be precise), which comes with a powerful chipset, bright screen, decent cameras and plenty of storage. Priced aggressively at Rs 14,999, it comes in three colours: Volcanic Grey, Tuscany Blue (our test unit) and Alpine White.

A major highlight is the phone’s 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ True Color display with 1000 NITS brightness, 108% NTSC ratio and 100% DCI P3 color gamut that delivers rich color reproduction at the screen. In order to enhance the gaming experience, the device ensures smooth interaction between users’ fingers and the screen with its 180Hz touch sampling rate. The bright visual experience is augmented by a powerful audio experience rendered possible by the two stereo speakers with DTS Surround sound and the linear motor touch system with 4D vibration that converts passive touch surfaces into active surfaces. Game lovers can look forward to the new Graphics Enhancement Mode for immersive gameplay.

Note 12 Pro is powered by Helio G99 processor chipset based on highly efficient 6nm manufacturing technology. The phone comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space and a dedicated memory card slot expandable up to 2TB. There is a huge 5000mAh battery, it also supports fast charging of 33W with Type-C cable.
