PUTRAJAYA, June 30 – Six telecom (telecom) companies are set to take stakes in Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) for the deployment of national 5G infrastructure through the Single Wholesale Network (SWN) model, said the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Sri Annuar Musa. .

Today (June 30) is the deadline for telecom operators to finalize 5G network contracts and participation agreements in the special-purpose vehicle.

Annuar said an official announcement on this would be made on July 8.

“Be patient, it will only take seven to eight days for the official announcement to be made.

“What I can say at this stage is that everything (is going) as planned. Negotiations have taken place and they have reached a certain agreement and everything will be concluded by July 8,” he said. he told reporters after attending the signing ceremony of a collaboration agreement between Telekom Malaysia Bhd(TM) and Cisco International Ltd here today.

Annuar said the telecom operators that will join DNB are only those that operate networks.

“There will be six telecom operators, only those with a network. (Again) three have the spectrum but don’t have the network,” he said without disclosing the names.

Regarding the share of capital, he said that each telecom operator would get an equal share of DNB.

“We have offered all (telecommunications operators) a (total of) 70% (equity) and they will be shared equally, divided by the number of participants,” he said, adding that all concerns about the transparency and pricing of the benchmark access offer have been sorted out.

On June 15, Annuar reportedly said it would issue new licenses to new players if there were not enough companies participating in the 5G rollout.
