Rob Hipp Named “Voice of the Bison” for NDSU Football, Men’s Basketball

FARGO, ND – The North Dakota State University Athletic Department, its media rights holder LEARFIELD and Radio FM Media announced Rob Hipp as “Voice of the Bison” beginning this season. Hipp will also serve as sports director of KQWB-AM BISON 1660.

He officially joins the Bison family on August 15 and will handle play-by-play duties for men’s football and basketball. Hipp will also host the one-hour coaches broadcasts for radio and television during the men’s and women’s football and basketball seasons.

Hipp will relocate to Fargo from Texas, where he was the play-by-play radio voice for the Sam Houston Bearkats football, basketball and baseball programs. He was also the sports director of KSAM-KHVL radio, where he produced daily sports segments, podcasts and hosted talk shows.

“Voice of the Bison’s position goes far beyond calling football and basketball games. It’s about bringing the story of NDSU Athletics to our passionate fans across the country,” said the sports director. Matt Larsen. “In addition to his strong play-by-play appeal, Rob Hipp’s ability to connect with the community and fan base has really set him apart from other talented contestants. We are thrilled to have him join the Bison family.”

Fans can hear Hipp’s debut behind the mic on Saturday, September 3, when Bison football opens the season at home against Drake at 2:30 p.m.
