Samsung Galaxy S22: All about the 2022 flagship

Samsung’s release model for its Galaxy S line of smartphones involves a first reveal in February. But that timeline changed this year, when the company announced its S21, S21 +, and S21 Ultra a month earlier. With the end of December, we can expect more announcements from the company soon, specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S22 series of devices.

Samsung Galaxy S22 release date and price

Until 2021, Samsung has lined up its releases for the following month, with an announcement in February and a release window in March. At this time, it’s unclear whether a January start is the company’s new exit strategy. Although, according to Korea Pulse News, several sources mentioned a revelation of January 28, 2022.

According to a leaked by @TheGalox_ on Twitter, S22 entries will see a price increase of at least $ 50 on the Base and Plus variants, while the Ultra variant could see a price increase of up to $ 100. The base Galaxy S22 is expected to cost $ 799 (around Rs 60,700), the S22 + at $ 999 (around Rs 76,000) and the S22 Ultra variant at $ 1,199 (around Rs 92,000).

Samsung Galaxy S22 design, features and accessories

Based on a set of leaks that surfaced earlier, we’ve learned that the smartphone will appear in four different colors: black, white, dark red, and dark green. Thanks to new 3D renderings by Let’s go digital, we finally got to see what the green variant of the S22 Ultra would look like – Burnham Green (# 27423a).

Speaking of the overall finish, the Galaxy s22 and S22 Plus models are expected to feature a glossy finish, while the S22 Ultra will have a matte texture. Glossy variants are sure to be more susceptible to fingerprints and sweat stains.

The render suggests that the rear would feature a 4-camera setup with three of them lined up one below the other, while the fourth is pushed to the side, just below the flash. The lenses will not have any casing and will simply be raised. The Base and Plus variants, however, will feature a casing around the lenses.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is also expected to come with an S-Pen and a built-in compartment, similar to the Galaxy Note range. A week ago, rumors suggested that the device would be called the S22 Note instead, due to its larger screen.

According to GSMArena, Samsung will also offer a multitude of phone cases ranging from transparent cases, frames, leather, silicone, protective on stand, etc. Registration to UK BOX includes 24 official case options for the base variant, 23 for Plus and 19 for Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S22 specifications and hardware

The S22 Ultra will feature a large 6.8-inch LTPO Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a variable refresh rate of 120Hz. The base model, on the other hand, will be smaller, housing a 6.1-inch display. The phones themselves will be powered by the latest flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or the Exynos 2200 with AMD gaming chipsets depending on the market region.

On the S22 Ultra, the rear quad camera setup includes a 108-megapixel main sensor with an f / 1.8 aperture. It is supported by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and two 10-megapixel telephoto lenses. For selfies, up front you’ll see a 40-megapixel punch-hole camera.

Identical to the S21 Ultra, the new device could have at least 12 or 16 GB of RAM and start with an internal storage variant of 128 GB, followed by 256 GB and 512 GB. It should contain a 4000 mAh battery for the variant of base, 4600 mAh for the S22 + and 5000 mAh for the Ultra, with a fast charge of 45 W.

Support for 5G is also expected, along with an IP68 rating for splash damage.
