Sycamore Golf continues to play Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Monday

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State Women’s Golf Program is set to continue its spring season this Monday at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate held at Sevierville Golf Club (Par 71, 5,803 yards) in Sevierville, Tennessee.

The 36-hole tournament is set to be played on March 14-15 after snowy and cold conditions forced an adjustment from the original three-day event. The 13-team tournament field includes Bellarmine, Carson-Newman, Findlay, Lindsey Wilson College, Maryville College, Murray State, North Alabama, Northern Kentucky, Radford, Tennessee State, Tusculum and host Tennessee Tech.

ISU Lineup Featured in MVC All-Conference Selection Lawrence Green coming out of a solid fall. Madison Branum, Kristen Hobbs, Chelsea Morrow and Grace Welty complete the five Sycamore on the scoreboard. Iyoun Chew and Molly Lee will compete individually against the field.

Hobbs is coming off of ninth place (78-75-153) last week at the Benbow Invitational. The second shot a four-for-75 for the Sycamores on the final day and recorded three birdies on the back nine, ending the two-day event with five birdies in total. Green finished the event tied for 13th, shooting a 75 on Monday before closing the game with an 80 to finish +9. Branum improved his shooting total by one stroke on Tuesday, shooting a 79 to finish +17 and tied for 32nd.

It marks the ninth annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, honoring the late Tennessee Tech great
head coach, Bobby Nichols. Sevierville Golf Club has called the tournament home for each of the previous eight installments, with only the 2020 season absent due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Highlands course has been home to the women’s side of the BNI from the start and is as challenging as it is beautiful.

The Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate is the second of four tournaments the ISU will participate in during the month of March before hosting the Indiana State Invitational at the Terre Haute Country Club from April 2-4.
